Product Details

A popular folktale painting of Orissa refers to the sea voyages. Soon after Rakhi Purnima, young unmarried girls of certain Oriya communities observe a fast called Khudurikuni Osa for the well-being of their brothers. The folktale describes the miseries of a girl named Tapoi, who is ill-treated by her sisters-in-law while her seven sadhaba brothers are away. Tapoi runs away from home and takes refuge in the forests, worshipping goddess Durga for the well-being and safe return of her brothers. In the end, with the proverbial victory of good over evil, the brothers return and after hearing her travails they punish their wives, except for the one sister-in-law who was kind towards Tapoi. It is made up on Tussar silk base with colorful paints and a designer border which covers all the sides. The black paint that is used in the painting is made up from Kajal. Its a true holy piece made finely from the Orissa Craftsman. This painting is a traditional painting but we should try to find the real fine art of Orissa Craftsman.
