In Hindu mythology Shakuntala is the wife of Dushyanta and the mother of Emperor Bharata. Her story is told in the Mahabarata and dramatized by Kalidasa in his play 'Abhijnana Shakuntala' (The Recognition of Shakuntala). This beautifull painting depicts Innocent Shakuntala dressed perfectly and thinking of her beloved 'Dushyanta' in a backyard. This wooden painting is crafted with skillfully arranged small wooden blocks of three different colors to form a lovely image. Materials Used- Three kinds of wood are used- Jack fruit wood (Yellow), Margosa (Red) and a kind of hairy sour apple (White) Base is made of 'Macanite Board' Maintenance & Care- It can be easily cleaned using a soft brush. Please do not use water to clean it.
