Product Details

Garba Dance is a popular folk Dance of Gujarat. It is a circular form of dance performed by ladies on the Navaratri days, Sharad Purnima, Vasant Panchami, Holi and such other festive occasions. The basics of the dance are singing and clapping rhythmically while going round the goddess. Garba is the leading dance of women in Gujarat. The Garba dance is performed throughout nine nights of Navaratri. The actual performance begins at night after the women finish their house hold work. All gather at street corners. Here this painting depicts a Woman in front posture with two 'Dandias' in her hand and doing 'Garba' dance. Amazingly crafted this painting in colage base to give a different look. Collage, which is derived from the French word "coller" meaning glue, is an art of attaching substances of different types, shapes, sizes, colors and textures to a base to form a piece of art. This wooden painting is crafted with skillfully arranged small wooden blocks of three different colors to form a lovely image. Materials Used- Three kinds of wood are used- Jack fruit wood (Yellow), Margosa (Red) and a kind of hairy sour apple (White) Base is made of 'Macanite Board' Maintenance & Care- It can be easily cleaned using a soft brush.
