Khol also called mridang, is a folk drum of northeast India. It is a terracotta two-sided drum used in northern and eastern India for accompaniment with devotional music (bhakti). It originates from the Indian state West Bengal. In addition, it has uses in Bengali folk and semi-classical music. This painting depicts a man plays a 'Khol' and dances on its beats on his own world. This wooden painting is crafted with skillfully arranged small wooden blocks of three different colors to form a lovely image. Materials Used- Three kinds of wood are used- Jack fruit wood (Yellow), Margosa (Red) and a kind of hairy sour apple (White) Base is made of 'Macanite Board' Maintenance & Care- It can be easily cleaned using a soft brush. Please do not use water to clean it.
